My first FINISHED piece of 2d art in years. It started out with a reference photo from [link]
My goal was to finish - perfected or not, by yesterday, and that I did, woohoo! I started out by hand drawing on arches watercolor paper, using the photo as a visual reference, roughed it out in watercolor, then scanned it and painted it in Painter. I didn't use any filters, except for putting a blur on the background for depth and laying a block of color onto the canvas to make the fabric blue. I used Photoshop a little for some color correction of the background and that's basically it.
Well now that I think of it, I was originally going to put a small cluster of herbs tucked into the knot of her skirt... If I do add anything, I will do it much later, once I've got a good momentum going and have done a few more paintings to get my courage up
Thank you for all your comments, it really encourages me to do more To Tiantian, I think I'm going to leave her as is for now- she was just the first, to get me over the hump, so I think I need to let it go and move on to a new project. I'm the kind of person that can nit-pick a painting forever, which is why I hadn't done anything in so long! LOL My next one will be more finished But still not perfect
it's a nice image! is this really your finished piece? it's great! but the only thing i can point out is i think the contrast is not enough. perhaps adjust the level or curve would help
